6 Simple Ways to Heal Your Gut and Improve Digestion

  1. Chew your food.

Digestive enzymes are released in the mouth, so wisdom tells us to chew our food thoroughly which has great potential to improve digestion. Lets try to “Drink our solids and chew our liquids”, mixing enzymes with everything.

  1. Have bowel movements daily.

Normal elimination is 1-3x a day. Sometime increasing fiber will help. Other times it may take giving up refined grains and foods. If we aren’t having BMs daily, it may be time to reach out to for support in discovering the underlying cause. Consideration should also be given to Colon Hydrotherapy.

  1. Take probiotics.

The good bacteria from probiotics have been clinically proven to improve gut health. For best results, work with a qualified health practitioner.

  1. Learn fresh ways adapt to your stress.

When we are not adapting to our stress, we will be engaging the sympathetic nervous system. Which means digestion will be inhibited, shut down. One of the best ways to do this is to belly breath, four counts in and four counts out, until we return to a peaceful state. When we are able to incorporate calming essential oils we can magnify that effect of stress calming techniques: diffuse, apply to skin or breathe them deeply.

  1. Retune with a regular detox.

If we do a gentle detox on a regular basis, it has the potential to reset our entire digestive system. We do the 21 Day Cleanse 1-2x a year with great results. Is it time for you to do it or do it again this year?

  1. Listen for clues.

You are the captain of your ship, so it is important for you to understand what is going on down in the engine room. Symptoms are our friend and merely telling us clues that something is amiss. I believe “all roads lead to the gut”, so let’s determine what is needed to get our digestive system back on track. When we aren’t sure, it may be time to make an appointment with an expert that can help us discover the underlying cause.
